The holiday season is here. On the outside, there’s a smell of pine and chestnuts.

On the inside, there’s an aroma of cinnamon and peppermint.

You see wreaths adorned with bows and trinkets. Lights are sparking and dancing all around.

The music in stores is playful and uplifting. The aisles are filled with grand displays that will take you from the mundane to the magnificent.

The decor creates a feeling of excitement, and anticipation of happy times, but you must resist. The enchanting surroundings have but one aim, and that’s seducing you into spending your money.

The effect of the season on you

This season has such a magical effect on an otherwise ordinary existence. Daily, you wake up to an alarm clock, drink coffee for energy, work to pay the bills, interact with loved ones, recover and repeat. Day after day, engaging in the same behavior is boring and debilitating.

Your brain craves excitement and varied experiences. The holidays feed your brain by providing an escape. The elaborate displays of the season activate your senses, causing an emotional boost. Your brain then releases…
